: Poetry is not about writing. The essential core of poetry is about thought itself—and how to take this thought and create an analytical mindset while interpreting the world around you. Philosophy involves the study of LIFE and we want to connect this study with the art of poetic expression! We are inviting students to join us on a weeklong journey as we explore and dissect philosophical questions and ideas. We will be reading quotes, ancient texts, while pondering questions that philosophers throughout the centuries have discussed and studied. We will share new discoveries, insights, and ideas together while trying to find our poetic voice. If you want to grow creatively as a writer while also growing in wisdom and insight, then this class is for you!
Prereq’s: : Students should be reading at or above grade level and be a writer who has the courage to take risks and try new techniques. This course encourages students to take part in sharing ideas to help drive discussion forward, but it is required that all class members have respectful conversation and display empathetic listening as they interact with classmates.
