For students graduating 1st-3rd grade in '11-’12 school year

Come explore all the beauty of language while expressing your creativity and imagination. Students will read, interpret, and draft various forms of poetry (with free verse being the primary focus) as we concentrate on using creative language to make comparisons, take artistic risks with word choice, and read and critique different types of poems. Discover the power that YOUR words can have as you journey through the ocean of challenge and treasure that poetry can offer!/p>
Prerequisites for Powerful Poets 200: Students need to be able to read at or above grade level, have solid vocabulary and writing skills, be willing to take risks, and also be open and respectful to the ideas of others.
