Since the invention of photography, artists and inventors have looked for ways to make those pictures move. In this course, students will explore a variety of animation techniques from flip books to Claymation. They will gain a rich understanding of how films, videos, and animations are created and explore those techniques in depth through the creation of a stop motion animation. Students will explore ways of combining approaches to animation or live action film making and push them in new directions combining digital and traditional methods of making art. Students will work collaboratively throughout the process, but each student will be able to take home his/her own copy of the finished animation.
Prerequisites for Intro to Animation 101: Students must me be able to work well in a group.
***Because the final product of the course will be a digital video file, students are encouraged to bring their own flash memory drives to save the final product.
